The Australian Mercy Fund (AMF) is a funding initiative of Australian Mercy to help projects among the poor that are unable to get funding from other sources. To date The AMF has given more than $14,000 in funding to small projects that are benefiting the poor and needy.
The AMF is supported through public fundraising. Funds donated to the AMF are placed in a trust that is managed by Equity Trustees. Dividends for that trust are distributed bu the Australian Mercy Board according to the following formula;
75% of dividends – Set aside for AMF Disbursals
20% of dividends – Re-invested into the Equity Trustees to help increase the size of the fund and to help buffer it against inflation.
5% of dividends – Used for admin costs of running the fund.
According to our most recent Annual Report the AMF had an investment core of $28,842.00 as at June 30, 2015.
To date the AMF has given small grants to the following projects.
TOTAL DISBURSALS TO DATE $14,280
The AMF seeks public donations to increase the size of the invested core of the fund. The fund is also supplemented by fund raising done through the Australian Mercy National Office.
Disbursals from the fund are made on an ad hoc basis at the discretion of the Australian Mercy Board.
In the coming years the Australian Mercy Fund will continue to provide funds for poorer projects that are serving the poor and needy.
