Serving Locally and Overseas
Project 1 : Australia
Providing practical home help for families and individuals who struggle with short term difficulties. We aim to strengthen the family unit and help prevent family breakdown.
There are many in the city of Perth who struggle and are desperately lonely. We connect with them in real and practical ways by meeting their needs.
We also equip people so that they can demonstrate care for their community. We offer short seminars for community members on how to care for families in crisis in their area.
Our hope is to have participating community groups like churches in every area of Perth that care for the poor and needy as well as build support networks and lasting friendships.
After the training seminar is completed we connect groups with families in need in their community.
Project 2 : International
A 6-week seminar and outreach opportunity giving medical professionals exposure to the desperate needs of the poor.
Participants gain confidence as they learn to adapt their skills to less resourced environments and draw on the Holy Spirit for dependence. This experience will create a deeper love for the poor and needy and helps participants combine skill and faith together in the way that God intended our health response to be.
One participant shared:
“It was encouraging to be able to use my skill as a physiotherapist during our clinics in India. Each day we had a lot of patients complaining of chronic body pains. The easiest treatment would be to give them pain medication, but this wouldn’t be helpful in the long-term. I’m used to having a lot of specialised equipment in my workplace, but being in a less-resourced area I had to go back to basic techniques and use my hands. I loved being able to use massage to release tension and pain. I also loved being able to teach people exercises that will strengthen their muscles and decrease pain levels. It was a joy to see the smiles on their faces!”
