Australian Mercy has launched an urgent appeal for those in Turkey and northern Syria who are currently facing the greatest traumatic experiences they have ever gone through.
As you know, a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit south-eastern Turkey and northern Syria, at a depth of only 18km, toppled some 3000 buildings and killed almost 15 thousand people before a second 7.5 magnitude quake hit hours later. An additional 30,000 people have been injured; almost 300,000 have lost their homes and are internally displaced.
Australian Mercy has personal contacts in Turkey and northern Syria, and we can send funds right to the root of the problem right now. All donations, less 5%, will go directly to the people who need it most, as Australian Mercy staff receive no salaries but are “true blue” volunteers.
